Two miles outside historic Silverton at high elevation in the San Juan Mountains, San Juan Backcountry Lodge is one of the most spectacular and intimate wedding settings in the American West. Panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, full lodge access, and overnight accommodations for up to twelve guests come with every package, which turns your wedding into a full mountain weekend rather than a single afternoon.
We are a venue-only facility. We provide the space and the setting; you bring your own caterer, tables, chairs, décor, and vendors.
Venue pricing
Rates below are the venue fee. Winter rates reflect the same full lodge access at a quieter time of year.

Every rate is a venue fee only and includes full lodge access plus overnight lodging the night before and the night after the wedding for up to twelve guests. Tables, chairs, catering, and all other vendor services are arranged separately by the couple.

We provide
- The whole lodgeInterior and exterior grounds are yours for the day — common areas, kitchen access, and every outdoor space looking out on the surrounding peaks.
- Lodging for twelveFour guest rooms sleeping up to twelve, the night before and the night after the wedding. Enough for the wedding party and immediate family.
- The settingA high-elevation San Juan Mountain backdrop that needs very little décor to carry the day.
You bring
- Tables, chairs, and linensNo furniture is supplied. Rentals are arranged and delivered by your coordinator or rental vendor.
- Catering and barNo food service or bar is provided. You hire your own caterer and bartender and handle all food and beverage logistics.
- Tent, décor, and soundTents, canopies, florals, lighting, and sound equipment are yours to organize. Silverton and Durango vendors can help.
Booking and cancellation
Short terms, plainly stated, so you can plan around them.
- Deposit
- A 50% deposit of the venue fee holds your date. The remaining balance is due 30 days before check-in and is collected automatically.
- Free cancellation
- Cancel at least 15 days before check-in and your deposit is refunded in full. You also have a 24-hour grace period after booking to cancel for free, as long as your arrival is at least 72 hours away.
- Late cancellation
- Cancellations within 15 days of check-in are non-refundable. Travel insurance is available at booking and is worth considering.
- Security deposit
- A $300 refundable security deposit is required.
- Winter weddings
- Indoor ceremony space is available in any season. Outdoor winter ceremonies are weather-dependent and at your discretion.
