The San Juan Backcountry Lodge is currently under construction and is owned by Spencer and Adam Rex. We built, own and operate the Escalante Cliff House Escalantecliffhouse.com and Birch Creek House Birchcreekhouse.com in Escalante Utah. The San Juan Mountain House will be completed in 2026 and we plan on taking reservations as soon as we know when we’ll be finished.

The Lodge will operate as a vacation rental from May 1st thru October 31st every year. In the winter months, a qualified backcountry guide that has adequate experience and training in avalanche safety. There are numerous areas around the house that have high avalanche potential, so the backcountry guide will determine whether accessing the lodge is safe and what terrain near the house is safe to access. Popular winter sports that are accessible a short distance from the lodge are cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snow cat skiing, heli skiing, etc… We currently have a partnership with San Juan Expeditions to guide cross country skiing and snowboarding from the house, if you would like to partner with us and provide guide services to our guests, we’d love to partner with you.
